The transfer window is in full swing already with major deals being completed last week including Liverpool snapping Salah from Roma and United capturing Lindelof two weeks ago.

The chase for reinforcements continues and with defence now all but sorted, United are after a holding midfielder despite Michael Carrick signing a one year extension last month.

With United set to fight on four fronts yet again next season, strength in depth will be paramount.

One midfielder being heavily tipped to join in the next few days is Chelsea's Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic who is believed to have been Mourinho's 3rd option of midfielders in the target list given to Ed Woodward last month.

The Serbian who recently rejoined Chelsea is valued at around £35m appears set to be United's second major signing this summer with the deal set to be sealed within the next 48 hours.

It's hard to watch Matic and Fellaini playing together but if this turns out to be true, then we have every reason to trust the boss as he nailed it in the last transfer window.

Having said that, Monaco's Fabinho who has been considered the most preferred target by many at United continues to be linked with United even going further to reveal on Brazillian television that a move to United would be tempting and also calling Jose 'a very great manager'.

Fabinho's wife likes a photoshopped image of her husband in a United kit on Instagram.

With Chelsea set to sign Fabinho's partner at Monaco Tiemoue Bakayoko, it remains to be seen whether the principality club will risk losing two of their best midfielders at the same time.

Whatever happens, it appears we'll either sign Fabinho or Nemanja Matic as the transfer window rolls on.

Elsewhere, United are back in talks with Real Madrid to sign the recently wedded striker Alvaro Morata but Madrid are still holding out for around £70m.

The Spanish star who has been partying in the Spanish island of Ibiza was spotted strolling on the beaches of the island in a relaxed mood like a man whose future is not under any heavy speculation.

Morata partying with his wife in Ibiza last weekend.

However, his new wife had United netizens wagging their tails after she followed Manchester United on Instagram and now it appears she knows something that we don't.

Mrs Morata now follows United

Whatever happens we'll keep you updated but for now the deal is back in full swing.

One man who could suffer with the arrival of a new striker is captain Wayne Rooney who is expected to leave the club after his shocking decline in recent seasons.

The man however in a major turn of events is now expected to stay according to his former teammate and United legend Ryan Giggs who claims the star could remain if he made peace with his new spare role at the club.

'Wayne is a proven goalscorer, give him a chance Wayne will score,' Giggs told Sky Sports News.

'It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing.

Wayne Rooney may have already played his last game for United

Rooney who recently became the club's outright top goalscorer of all time still has two years left in his contract and most of the clubs who could promise him regular football can't even afford half his wages.

'If Wayne can do that then I don't see why he can't still be at the club.'

United must sign a top striker this summer whatever happens with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial yet to hit their full strides and with injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to be released with Atletico Madrid heavily interested with the player who won't be fully match fit until at least January next year.
