Matić began his senior career at Serbian side Kolubara, before moving to Chelsea in 2009 for 1.5m.

He was loaned to Dutch side Vitesse in 2010 season but later moved to Benfica in a swap deal involving David Luiz moving to Chelsea.

He won the Primera Liga player of the year for his displays in 2012/2013 which forced Chelsea to splash 21m to sign him back.

He was named in the PFA Team of the Year in the 2014/2015 season.

He was reunited with his former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United in July 2017 signing a 3-yr contract with the option of a fourth.

He made his league debut in a 4-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford where he was named Man of the Match.

Matic has represented his country Serbia at Under 21 level but later made his senior debut in 2008 going on to accumulate 30 international caps.
