The former AZ Alkmaar and Sampdoria man completed his United move on July 27, 2015 on a free transfer signing for three years with the option of another.

He was reunited with Louis Van Gaal, his former coach at AZ.

With De Gea left out of the squad amid Real Madrid speculation and Victor Valdes out of favour, he made his Premier League debut on 8th August 2015- a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Notably, he did not concede in his first three league games for Man United and has deputized for De Gea, often proving reliable when given his chance.
