It's another time to celebrate the services of yet another United legend! United midfielder Michael Carrick, was granted a testimonial match to honour his impressive service for the club for a solid 11 years.

The vice-captain who has extended his contract to June 2018 will captain the returning Champions League winning team of 2008.

The team which will be managed by Sir Alex Ferguson will include fellow legends Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, John Oshea, Oliveira Anderson, Darren Fletcher, Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney among others.

Carrick has won everything there is to win in club football

Sir Alex Ferguson has even predicted his team will win comfortably but has also vowed to punish his players if they happen to have pot bellies and fitness issues on the pitch.

"I’ll see how many have got pot bellies and I’m going to fine them. As long as they don’t look at me!

"I’ve seen them all. Vida [Nemanja Vidic] came to a game earlier in the season and had lunch with me. He’s looking great. He’s taking his badges also, along with Michael, I think.

Wayne [Rooney] is still playing, so there’s no problem with that and Rio Ferdinand looks good. I see him on TV all the time with that beard now and he’s looking fine.

"Wes Brown is still playing. Patrice [Evra] is still playing. [Ryan] Giggs and [Paul] Scholes are not long finished and they look after themselves. I’m sure they will be great. We’ll be all right. I think we’ll win."

2008 Champions League winning squad will be back in town one more time.

An All Stars XI managed by former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is to provide opposition with its own array of Premier League legends including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and John Terry.

The match will kickoff at 4:30 PM after it was rescheduled due to the benefit concert set for the same day at Manchester to honor victims of the deadly Manchester attack that took place on 22 May.

The peace concert will see American singer Ariana Grande joined by Justin Bieber and a host of other stars including

Coldplay, Katy Perry, Usher, Take That, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus and Niall Horan at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground to raise money for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

Michael Carrick himself, confirmed the news of the time change in-order to avoid any inconveniences in time.

He said: “Unfortunately we have had to change the kick-off time and I'm sorry if this causes an inconvenience to anyone attending the game. Our game, and the coming together of the people of Manchester has taken on a much greater significance since the tragic events of Monday 22 May. I personally want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and all those affected. We want everybody to know that we are Manchester and we show a sense of togetherness and we give our full support to the benefit concert after our game. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend at the Testimonial to celebrate what our city is about.”

All proceeds raised from the match will go to the newly formed Michael Carrick foundation.
