With the football season drawing to a close this weekend, attentions have already shifted to the upcoming transfer window which officially opens on July 1.

With only Champions League positions and prize money left to fight for now, transfer speculations have soared in the past week and the major back page story is that Manchester United are set to announce Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez as early as this weekend.

Spanish media are reporting that the 25-yr old Colombian star could have already played his last game at the Bernabeu after he was subbed off to a standing ovation after 60 minutes at the weekend against Sevilla.

The reports claim his father was quoted by a radio station in Colombia saying he'd prefer his son starting matches elsewhere rather than sitting on the bench in Madrid.

It appears hard to turn down such a talent considering a player like Jesse Lingard is a regular starter at United and their stats can't even be compared.

Rodriguez applauded all the four sides of the Bernabeu as he was subbed.

United only have to qualify for the Champions League in order to land their man.

In other news, German media is reporting that Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang is keen to join the English Premier League in the summer.

The Gabonese forward is one of the deadliest strikers in world football and has managed 29 goals in the Bundesliga alone this season.

Aubameyang is second only to Bayern's Lewandoski in terms of goals in Germany

It's clear Jose Mourinho is after an out and out striker to replace the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic and also Antoinne Griezmann if we fail to land him.

It is said Mourinho will be handed 200 million pounds according to Gary Neville to rebuild his squad ahead of a possible Champions League and English Premier League title push next season.

“They got £45m back for [Morgan] Schneiderlin and [Memphis] Depay and maybe if [David] De Gea leaves it will be £60m or £70m - so he’s going to have £200m to spend," Neville told Sky Sports recently.

One thing you are guaranteed at United is money and with United on course to become the first club to earn 1 billion pounds in income, breaking the world transfer again is no big deal.

United will receive 100m pounds just for lifting the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League. So we can expect some of that cash to land a striker.

Finally, the ever going De Gea rumour is still on and one possible replacement leading the way is Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak.

Jan Oblak is one of Europe's best goalkeepers.

Oblak has been in impressive form at the Vicente Calderon, he kept 6 clean sheets in 10 Champions League games before they were eliminated by Real Madrid.

He has a further 6 clean sheets in his last 10 La Liga games so would be a more than able replacement if De Gea decided to leave.

We will keep a close eye on the transfer happenings as we draw closer to the end of the season. But for now we are left to wait on official communication from the club on deals.
