Jose told to forget Griezmann, De Gea replacement revealed, Perisic to join!

Former United player, Owen Hangreaves has told Jose to turn down the offer of signing Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and instead sign Juventus star Paulo Dybala this summer.

Griezmann has for long been linked with a world record transfer to United and United currently struggling to put the ball in the back of the net, he seems the best solution considering he's scoring goals for fun at the Vicente Calderon.

The 26 year old is the leading scorer at Atletico this season with 16 goals in La Liga and another 12 in the Champions League.

He recently scored to reach 100 goals in La Liga in just his third season and Hangreaves believes Dybala would still be a magnificent signing as opposed to the French Star.

“You have to look at what you have and what you desperately need,” he said.

“I think they need a Dybala-type player.

“Everybody speaks about Griezmann, I think Griezmann would be terrific.

“But I think Dybala, he’s a little bit younger, he’s going to be a superstar if he isn’t already.

“He would be magnificent.

“That star power that Ibra (Zlatan Ibrahimovic) bought, I think Dybala could bring that as well.”

Paulo Dybala helped knock out Barcelona in this season's Champions League.

The 23 year old Juventus frontman has 17 goals this season and would also command a hefty fee from either Real Madrid or Barcelona who have already been linked with a move for him.

Elsewhere, United reportedly had Serie A duo Dries Mertens and Ivan Perisic scouted in April ahead of the summer transfer window.

In fact, it is believed United scouts watched the pair face each other when Napoli played Inter Milan last Sunday.

Mertens is believed to have a £30 million buyout clause there at Napoli while Inter believe Perisic is worth £55 million.

They both play from the left-wing but Mertens has featured centrally off late scoring 28 times in all competitions for Napoli this season. He recently turned 30 while Perisic just turned 28.

Perisic is having a good season at Inter with 10 goals and 5 assists in 31 games but obviously not anywhere as good as Mertens although the Croatian puts in an excellent defensive shift, registering more tackles and interceptions than the Belgian forward.

Mertens has outshone Perisic offensively but the Croatian is better defensively.

With United possessing enough creative players in Mata , Martial and Mkhitaryan while Mertens is prolific in-front of goal and the cheaper option, it's a no brainer who United should go for this summer if they have to.

Lastly, It's United favorite David de Gea linked with a summer move to Madrid again. This time the fax machine is not mentioned, but the gutter press are reporting that a replacement is already set.

It's none other than Premier League champion and Leicester City number 1 Kasper Scmeichel. The Dane has been touted to replace De Gea in the summer if he departs.

United has also been credited with interest for Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak, but for now it seems Schmeichel is the number one target according to Sky Sports sources.
