Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw join injury list in home draw

The disappointing home draw against Swansea City was the 10th in 15 home Premier League games and it came with an undesired incentive.

The injury list is lengthening with now 8 first team members out with injury and Marouane Fellaini still suspended.

We can complain about the many fixtures we've played but some injuries like Smalling's and Jones have nothing to do with the current fixture list.

In fact, it is more of bad luck than accumulation of matches. For instance, Luke Shaw could only manage 9 minutes against Swansea with what Jose called a 'big injury'

"Luke has to be a big injury, when you’re out after 10 minutes, it has to be a big injury. Eric, maybe he is injured but, at the same time, maybe it’s in relation to him being the guy who’s played 800 minutes of football in April. Maybe he has also a relation to that.” the boss said after-match.

Luke Shaw went down unchallenged inside 9 minutes against Swansea City

Considering he just sat alone in that area of the pitch and held is leg means it was no contact injury, keeping in mind that he was also rested in the derby.

Eric Bailly also hurt himself in a tackle with Llorente and had to be replaced by Matteo Darmian after 60 minutes.

The two defenders now join fellow defenders Rojo, Jones, and Smalling in the treatment room, meaning we have no natural centerback fit heading into the crunch tie with Celta Vigo on Thursday in Spain.

Darmian had to play at center-back and he might be asked to continue in the Europa League.

Eric Bailly left Old Trafford with his ankle strapped but without crutches.

It was our 4th game in just ten days and the 9th fixture in April and the fatigue showed early on as Swansea outplayed us in pretty the whole of the first half.

Only good thing to come out of the Swansea game was seeing Juan Mata back to the squad and even warming up during and after the game.

His creativity is especially welcome in this run in where we'll need to put away chances that come our way.

We finally set a new club record for the longest unbeaten run (25 games) in a single season but the 13 draws in that run make it what many are calling the worst unbeaten run in Europe.

Wayne Rooney scored a penalty but also gave away an equalizer against Swansea.

Attentions quickly turn to the Europa League semifinal first leg, where we'll need a good result especially after we blew the chance to jump into the top four after Man City was held by Middlesbrough and Arsenal beaten by Tottenham in the last ever North London Derby

at White Hart Lane.

We are likely to have Paul Pogba back in that match and it's clear to see how our midfield doesn't tick without him.
