10 things we learned from the FA clash against Sheffield United

Manchester United could only salvage an extra time goal against a League One team in last night's FA Cup clash against Sheffield United and here are 10 things we learned:

1. It was embarrassing to see Marouane Fellaini, given the key role as United's box-to-box player, and he lost all the battles and was outpaced by YARDS by league on players. #Embarrassing.
2. That LVG could say United played well because of 70% possession is crazy.
This man is not suited for Manchester United - our first shot on target was on the 65th minute! #leaveusaloneLVG

3. Juan Mata should be rested for the foreseeable future even with a trip to Liverpool.
In the last 5-7 games, he's been a passenger during the games but it was most clear yesterday.
He lacks pace to even be on the wings but worse, his passes and strength have also failed. It improved Rooney to miss out, so maybe it can work for him. #benchhim
4. Memphis Depay has been actually rising since he returned to form.
He was relentless and offered the only exciting thing in a game where our forwards tried to scurry balls through the centre with 10 players defending at OT. #Memphisisback #ThankyouMemphis

5. Tactically, LVG got things wrong - and did not think beyond accommodating Fellaini - for example, he subbed the Big Fella with Pereira forcing the Brazilian to play deep.
It was a waste of talent and it killed our attack because Pereira is more effective up front.
Like the Bayer Leverkusen CEO Michael Schade mocked LVG earlier this week, it seems to be true, "Louis Van Gaal does not know his players & what they can do if let to play!"
6. Despite the fact that he scored, Wayne Rooney was very blunt up front throughout 90 minutes.
He needs to get sharper - although without wingers, the supply was also lacking forcing him to keep going right *see Juan Mata's problems.

7. We need wingers. Okay, we have wingers - LVG needs to play them!
8. This philosophy is useless and as Scholes put it... very depressing - all these 0-0 halftime scores and boring passing football with no end in sight. #depressing.

9. Despite having played only 78 minutes (Young) or just one game (Schneiderlin) LVG took pains to express that these players, though not injured, were just about to be and that's why he left them out of the squad.
I tell you I have heard tall tales, but this one takes the cake. #LVGOUT
10. It was a win, but to be honest, I wondered if each other (boring) win means we get to keep LVG - maybe then it's not a win in the long run, is it? #WhenwillLVGleave?
