Luke Shaw sustained a double fracture on his leg after Héctor Moreno challenged him with both legs.

It was a horrific sight as Shaw, in tears, required oxygen and was still down nine minutes later before being taken off with a suspected broken leg, later confirmed as a double fracture was treated to an oxygen and from LVG's reaction when he went to see off the player, it was horrible.

Moreno was fortunate that the referee, Nicola Rizzoli, did not show him a red card or award a penalty to Manchester United, and this costed United in the end.

Less than an hour after the injury, Shaw took to Twitter to post:

Thank you everyone for your messages , words can't describe how gutted I am , my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.

And we wish him well.

Official communication from Manchester United: "Our thoughts go out to @LukeShaw23, who has suffered a double fracture of the leg. He will have an operation on his return to Manchester."

The team looks in as Luke Shaw received his treatment. Later, the players admitted it was very hard to watch.
